Dear Serbian Neuroscience Society,

The Mediterranean Neuroscience Society (MNS) is pleased to announce the Call
for Symposium Proposals for MNS 2027, the 11th Mediterranean Neuroscience
Society Conference, to be held in Tangier, Morocco, from 5 to 9 June 2027.

Following the success of MNS 2025 in Chania, which brought together around
500 neuroscientists from the Mediterranean region and across the world, MNS
2027 will once again provide an international forum for presenting
cutting-edge neuroscience, exchanging ideas, developing new collaborations,
supporting the next generation of scientists, and strengthening scientific
connections across the Mediterranean and beyond.

We warmly invite neuroscientists worldwide to contribute to the scientific
programme by submitting proposals for MNS 2027 Symposia. [2]

SYMPOSIUM FORMAT

Each symposium will have a total duration of 2 hours and should normally
include 1-2 chairs and 4-5 speakers, each providing a complementary
perspective on a common scientific theme. Chairs are not required to serve
as speakers.

Proposals should present a coherent scientific programme while bringing
together researchers with complementary expertise. Interdisciplinary and
innovative proposals connecting different areas of neuroscience are
particularly encouraged.

Linked symposia may be submitted; however, joint acceptance cannot be
guaranteed, as the Scientific Committee will seek to maintain a broad and
balanced scientific programme.

The MNS 2027 Scientific and Organizing Committees reserve the right to
suggest modifications to the structure or composition of proposed symposia
to improve scientific balance, diversity, or integration within the overall
programme.

SCIENTIFIC SCOPE

MNS welcomes symposium proposals covering the full breadth of neuroscience,
including molecular and cellular neuroscience, development, neural
excitability and synaptic plasticity, systems and computational
neuroscience, sensory and motor systems, cognition and behaviour,
neurophysiology, neuropharmacology, genetics and genomics,
neuroendocrinology, neuroimaging, neurological and psychiatric disorders,
neurodegenerative diseases, translational and clinical neuroscience,
neurotechnology, artificial intelligence, brain health, history of
neuroscience, neuroethics, education, advocacy, and public engagement.

Proposals addressing emerging fields, new technologies and interdisciplinary
approaches are especially welcome.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION

MNS is strongly committed to promoting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
(DEI) throughout its scientific programme.

Symposium proposals should aim for appropriate diversity in gender,
nationality, geographical representation, and career stage. Chairs and
speakers from different countries and institutions are strongly encouraged.

Proposals that include scientists from countries traditionally
under-represented at international neuroscience meetings, particularly from
the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean regions, are especially welcome.

Organizers are encouraged to follow the ALBA Network guidelines for
inclusive scientific meetings when assembling their symposium.

ELIGIBILITY

The proposing organizer/chair must be an active MNS member for the current
membership year.

Applicants should create or update their MNS member profile and ensure that
their annual membership fee has been paid before submitting a symposium
proposal.

WHAT TO SUBMIT

Each symposium proposal should include:

        * Title of the symposium
        * Name(s), affiliation(s), country/countries and email address(es)
of the organizer(s)/chair(s)
        * A general symposium abstract describing its scientific rationale,
objectives and coherence (maximum 500 words)
        * For each proposed speaker: full name, institutional affiliation,
country, email address, academic position/career stage, and gender

Individual speaker abstracts are not required at this stage.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR MNS 2027

Due to budget limitations, MNS cannot guarantee registration, accommodation
or travel expenses for symposium chairs and invited speakers. Organizers are
therefore encouraged to seek additional funding for their invited
participants.

However, MNS and its partners will provide several opportunities to support
participation in MNS 2027.

FRONTIERS IN BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE / MNS BURSARY

MNS, in partnership with Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, offers a
special financial-support opportunity for established researchers.

Applicants must be MNS members, hold a PhD with an established publication
record, and propose and serve as Guest Editor(s) of a Research Topic (RT) in
Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience.

BENEFITS INCLUDE:

        * 100% APC waiver for one article when at least 4 articles are
accepted in the Research Topic.
        * CHF 2,362.50 MNS 2027 bursary toward registration, accommodation
and travel when the Research Topic reaches at least 10 fully paid A-type
accepted articles.

The travel bursary is therefore linked to the successful organization and
completion of a Frontiers Research Topic.

TRAVEL SUPPORT FOR EARLY-CAREER RESEARCHERS

Supporting the next generation of neuroscientists remains a central part of
the MNS mission.

MNS and its international partners will provide a limited number of travel
grants and stipends for eligible early-career researchers attending MNS
2027, with particular attention to researchers from the Southern
Mediterranean region, low- and middle-income countries, and other
under-represented regions.

Detailed eligibility criteria, application procedures and deadlines will be
announced separately on the MNS 2027 website.

Participants from eligible low- and middle-income countries will also
benefit from reduced registration fees according to the MNS 2027
registration policy.
